How To Achieve Sales Targets

Filed Under (Marketing, Online Profits, Promotion, Selling) by Kevin Sinclair on 04-11-2008

Sales personnel often ask themselves how to achieve sales targets? Prospects are more savvy now when buying products and there is a wider choice of products in the market place. What can sales people do to achieve these targets?

1. Selling Is About The Value The Customer Gets

Many sales people study very well the features and functions of the products and services that they sell. What is more important is to understand what value the product or service brings to the person who buys it.

For a given product, different people buy it for their own unique reasons. It is therefore necessary to know what are the kinds of needs that the product or service serves. You can then find out the needs of the prospect first and then only present your product or service in the light of their requirements.

This approach will not only help you close the sale with the prospect that you are dealing with. It will help to increase referral sales that you can get.

2. Serve Before Selling

Sales people can be so focused on selling that they may not realize that this approach is normally seen as very aggressive by the prospect.

To understand the prospect needs and to serve the prospect with no expectation of selling is actually proving to be a much more effective way of selling.

Once you know the prospect needs, be generous about tips on how the person can meet their needs. One of the options, of course, is to use the product or service that you are selling. This approach is subtle and non-threatening.

Even if the prospect did not buy, the chances that they will refer you to someone else is high. In addition, they may later decide to buy your product.

So, do remember to give your contact details even if you do not make a sale.

3. Strategize And Follow Your Strategy

When you are faced with a question of how to achieve sales targets, the first step must be to strategize.

Without a strategy, you will be aimlessly going through actions not really knowing if you can achieve your target.
Then, of course, follow your strategy.

In following your strategy, monitor the results to check if your strategy is working the way you intended it to. If it does not, then it is time to evaluate and make adjustments based on your findings.

This simply means that you have mini-targets and dates against which you track your progress.

While strategies are high level, they are still not cast in concrete. It will be pointless pursuing a strategy that you realize is not making headway.

4. Develop A Plan Based On Your Strategy

It is important that a strategy is converted into a working plan with dates and expected results or deliverables at each of these dates.

In the event that other people are involved, clearly state who is accountable for each of these actions.

Identifying results or deliverables is important as these will indicate if the actions have been successfully completed. Use these results and deliverables as a basis to make any adjustments to your action plan or even to the strategy if required.

5. Enjoy The Journey

Make sure that the whole process of achieving sales targets is an enjoyable journey for you. If you find that it is not, you may want to find ways of creating some fun along the way.

There are people who use fun stationery when planning and tracking their work. Even strategizing can be fun when using colors and pictures. Mind maps are a great way to get your creative juices flowing.

Another way will be to reward yourself not just at the end of achieving your objectives, but also at milestone achievements.

These do not have to burn a hole in your pocket. While you could take a holiday at the end of the project, at milestone achievements, you might want to reward yourself with watching a movie or buying that new pair of shoes. It could even be as simple as having that ice cream only when you achieve the milestone.

Steps on strategizing, planning, tracking and rewarding are common thoughts on how to be successful at sales. Add to this the concepts of serving before selling and the value you bring to the customer, and you will have a winning strategy on how to achieve your sales targets.

Thought And The Law Of Attraction

Filed Under (Business Success, Personal Growth, Personal Success, Self Improvement) by Kevin Sinclair on 30-10-2008

We have all heard the expression, “if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” But to carry on without thinking about why you failed only leads to more failure.

The ability to create is a God given gift. A gift given to everyone without exception. Thought is the first step to manifesting any creation. Thoughts are energy, they are real. Your thoughts act as magnets and attract other thoughts, people, and circumstances that harmonize with them.

Thoughts operate and adhere to certain universal laws. Without these laws there would be no order; the universe itself would sink into chaos.

The Law of Attraction states that like attracts like. Much of what was once considered metaphysical, esoteric knowledge in the past is now scientific fact. Physics has shown that the principles involved in the Law of Attraction are every bit as valid as those governing the Law of Gravity. So it should come as no surprise that dwelling only on your problems simply attracts more problems.

The idea of attracting success by thinking about it is very appealing. So appealing in fact, people often get the wrong impression that it’s easy. Affirmations can be helpful, but mindless affirmations alone have no real value. On the other hand, once an affirmation becomes part of your belief system the subconscious goes to work attracting opportunities. It is not the success itself we attract, but the opportunity to succeed.

Our world is ruled by cause and effect, yet we often fail to see how this rule applies to the thoughts we think. This happens because the results of our thoughts are so far removed from the cause that we fail to see the connection.

The subconscious mind is working tirelessly 24 hours a day. It doesn’t analyze, it doesn’t judge, it simply accepts and attracts more of what the conscious mind is focused on. Are you attracting problems or solutions? By focusing on desire and showing gratitude for what you already have, the subconscious mind is given the necessary material to provide a constant stream of opportunities. Whether we take advantage of these opportunities or not is another story.

It’s impossible to operate outside the law of attraction. Consciously or unconsciously your thoughts, feelings, and emotions, determine if this law works for or against you. Stay focused on your success and reaching your goals. As one success leads to another, success becomes a habit. Problems and obstacles are seen as no more than stepping stones on the road to your ultimate goal.

Profiting From Your Newsletter

Filed Under (Email Marketing, Info Publishing, Internet Marketing, Online Profits, Promotion) by Kevin Sinclair on 28-10-2008

Newsletters have been around a while and they’re not going away anytime soon. Why should they when they can be so profitable for you and give value to your readers? Offline or online, newsletters are one of the ways you can spend a little time to get great results; better bang for your buck, if you will.

You may have started a newsletter way back when as a means to educate people on the topic you are an expert in. While this is a noble and enjoyable endeavor, by itself this tactic won’t make you a lot of money. Think of how you can monetize your newsletter.

While there are many formats your online newsletter can take; from straight no-frills to fancy template, your newsletter should have these elements:

1. A friendly atmosphere where people are encouraged to give feedback and/or ask questions.

This helps build a relationship, a sense of community between your readers and you. It’s the bridge from where they’re currently standing over to your paid product offers.

2. Personality.

Yes, a newsletter needs personality, preferably a little of yours. Briefly tell what you’re up to. Generally keep it short and positive, although every once in a while a little teeth gnashing will help some readers to relate. You could also give them a peek into the inner workings of your successful business. People love to see “inside”; it makes them feel like insiders.

3. Table of contents.

Put yourself in your newsletter readers’ shoes. What do you like in a newsletter? To be honest, most people aren’t going to read the whole thing and will go to the sections that interest them. That’s okay. It’s better that they read some of it and get value from it and maybe buy something than opt-out and never read any of it.

4. Valuable information.

Your newsletter shouldn’t be fluff. People are busy, give them what they WANT and as quickly as possible. By having this newsletter, you are the expert in your field. That’s not to say you should be all important and stuffy, just wear the title humbly and impart your information in a straight forward, easy to read manner.

5. An ending with a click.

People need some place to click next when they get to the end of your newsletter. This is where you put your promotion, hard or soft. Don’t get too crazy with it because you want people to read it and click, not skip it because it’s too long.

Before you begin, write up an outline that you want your newsletters to follow. For example:

- what you’ve been up to (brief, somewhat personal)
- article
- tip
- question for discussion, survey, or contest
- article
- promo

Once you have your outline fine-tuned, make it into a template and use it each time to help you put your newsletters together faster.

Perhaps the hardest part to doing a newsletter is staying consistent with how often you publish it. Once you’ve got it perfected and you see positive results such as increased sales of your products or affiliate products and an increase in membership, you will look forward to doing each new issue.
