Success Is A Choice Anyone Can Make

Filed Under (Business Success, Personal Growth, Personal Success, Self Improvement) by Kevin Sinclair on 31-07-2008

Success is a choice. This might surprise you, but it’s true and if you don’t believe it you have made the choice (yes, the choice) to journey through life without a great deal of success. Success is actually all about choice. You choose the things you want in your life, and then choose to do the necessary things to achieve your goals. You also choose not to quit until you achieve the outcome you desire.

Read the last two sentences again. Perhaps you feel you don’t really have a lot of choice in your life no matter what anyone says. What sort of choices do you have? What choices do successful people make that others tend to avoid?

The first most important choice for success is to decide to remove the obstacles in your life. A lot of the obstacles we face in life are internal. Low self esteem, negative beliefs about money or success, a lack of confidence in meeting new people can all hold you back from achieving success. If you find success out of reach, it is likely that there is something preventing you from moving forward in life. The sort of focus you need to break through limitations comes from a clear vision of the future you want. You can’t focus on moving towards a better future if your vision is blurry. Clearly define the future you want or the person you want to be, and then begin to focus on your dream. When you do this, you will begin to move toward your desired future.

The second choice for success is to choose to live as if you were already successful. In other words, fake it until you make it. Live as if you had already succeeded in the area you are focusing on. No matter what your current circumstances are, imagine them the way you want them to be. When you are sitting in your office, visualize it as if you were already the multi-millionaire you desire to be. When you walk through your home, imagine the furnishings and even the design that you truly desire. Make it as real as possible. Let yourself experience the emotions you would feel if you already possessed the things you desire.

This is a way of tricking your subconscious mind. If your subconscious mind thinks you are successful already, it will give you more success. Live as if you are already successful with the expectation that it will become real.

The third choice you need to make is to believe in your own success. If you consciously believe something, it is like a command to your subconscious mind to begin to work towards it. Look at your friends and acquaintances and consider how many of them truly have an unshakable belief in where they are headed in life. Would you consider them successful? Perhaps not. They may enjoy a good life but still not be successful in terms of the life they actually wanted. They may not even believe such a life is possible. On the other hand, you may know someone who has a firm belief in themselves and their direction in life. They may not be successful yet, but you can see they are heading towards their goals. Keep an eye on that person.

Belief is what makes the dream come true because it converts your focus into a plan that will make your dream real. Belief is more powerful than most people realize. Don’t underestimate it.

Strong belief generates emotions but most of the time we are unaware of the connection. You can choose to experience positive emotions that make your belief in success become reality. We automatically experience the negative side of emotions and beliefs when we focus on how traumatic and difficult certain situations are. By imagining how we would feel if we actually achieved our goals, and literally allowing ourselves to experience emotions such as joy, gratitude, hope, and happiness we move ourselves in the direction of really having what we desire.

Success is a choice. You can choose the adventure of pursuing your dreams with its challenges and triumphs, or you can live a life with limited risk but also limited success. If you don’t choose success, chances are your life will be fundamentally unchanged in ten years time. Is that what you really want?

Paid Surveys – Ask Yourself These Three Questions Before Signing Up

Filed Under (Business Success, Business Tools, Home Business, Online Profits, Small Business) by Kevin Sinclair on 29-07-2008

Taking part in paid surveys may well be an easy way to earn a little extra money, without having to take up secondary employment. However, when it comes to making decisions about which survey opportunities to take part in, there are three questions you should ask yourself.

1. Do I have to pay for it?

If the survey or market research company is legitimate, you will not be required to pay any money in advance of getting work from them. After all, it is real feedback you are providing them with so why on earth should you have to pay them? The company in question should also have an affiliate program where you are paid for any referrals you make to them by way of family and friends wanting to take them up on their offer as well. Some companies actually put together directories and lists and sell memberships instead. By all means, look into these, but make sure you read the reviews on the individual services before going any further.

2. Is this opportunity a viable one, likely to go on for a long time and will it be right for me?

Companies in the business of developing new products have to know what the consumer wants and need to be aware of the requirements in the marketplace. Prior to spending great sums of money on the creation of a new product, they invest millions of dollars into market research in order to avoid coming up with a product or service which falls flat on its face. Many surveys take a fair amount of time to complete and the companies understand this, hence their willingness to pay the individual for the time spent on such surveys. Therefore, if making a quick buck is your plan, then this is not for you and consistent effort on your part is required to get any kind of real monetary results.

3. What amount of cash am I realistically likely to make?

The small print needs checking out carefully before you will be aware of just how much, or how little, money you can make. Working for some companies earns you credits or points which can be converted to cash or a Visa gift card, which works like cash. Other companies simply pay you cash within two to four weeks of the completion of the survey depending on their accounting cycles. Payments can be anything from $2 dollars for a survey taking five minutes, $20 dollars for half an hour of your time or up to $75 dollars for more time consuming work.

In conclusion, paid surveys can result in an additional form of income and the only requirement from you is the time you need to set aside each day to complete your work. You should not have to pay for this kind of opportunity but you can expect to have to be consistent with your work to get the greatest possible gains. Be sure to read the small print so you know exactly what you are letting yourself in for.

Why A Well Designed Business Card Is Essential

Filed Under (Business Success, Business Tools, Home Business, Marketing, Selling, Small Business) by Kevin Sinclair on 27-07-2008

Every business needs an effective marketing strategy and most business owners would admit this. However, they may not question whether or not their own strategy is, indeed, an effective one. Stop for a moment and just consider what would happen if your business had no decent advertising. The answer is quite simple, most businesses would fail very quickly without an effective marketing strategy.

The Importance of a Business Card

You may not consider a business card as a marketing tool, but it can be a very effective and versatile one. Your business card offers an introduction to your company to prospective clients while at the same time enhancing you as a professional. If you don’t already have a business card, you definitely need one.

Branding With Business Cards

A business marketing plan will usually incorporate a range of strategies including direct selling and branding. Direct selling focuses on increasing market share and profitability by selling your products and services. Branding is a way of differentiating your business from your competitors.

Most business are not selling a unique product, so in order to gain a competitive edge you need to have a unique selling point. In other words, you have to offer your customers something different that they want. Perhaps you can focus on exceptional customer service, offer a rewards program for customer loyalty, or provide an in-house extended warranty that beats your competitors hands down. By taking the time to build a strong brand, you will reap significant returns in the long run. A well designed business card which emphasizes your unique selling point can help you build your brand.

Be Creative and Humorous

Who are you and what is your business really about? Are you reliable and ethical and are your employees helpful? You may not think it’s possible, but a well designed business card can actually convey all this information at a glance.

Whether you are planning to start a new business or are already running an established one, it is important to give the best possible impression of yourself and your organization. A business card that can impress a broad audience can be a great asset. Not only do you want to convey the impression that you are a quality person running a quality organization, you also want people to see you as a friendly and approachable person with a sense of humor. This is the kind of person most people feel they can relate to and you are likely to attract positive comments and word of mouth recommendations.

The Look and Feel of Your Business Card

The message you want your business card to convey needs to match the texture and material you have chosen to make your card from. The more unique the material you choose for your business card, the more you will differentiate your business. There are more business card options available today than ever before. Some people create their business cards from plastic, material and even polished metals. Even if you can’t afford some of the more expensive options, you can still make paper cards unique by engraving or indenting original designs onto them. For example, dentist may have an image of a set of teeth indented onto business card paper. This is far more effective than simply printing an image and is likely to get a lot of attention, which is the whole point.

There is no doubt that business cards are essential marketing tools for business success. A well designed business card can create a powerful and positive impression for both yourself and your business. The more effectively designed the business card, the higher your return on investment will be.

How You Can Be Your Own Worst Enemy

Filed Under (Business Success, Personal Growth, Personal Success, Self Improvement) by Kevin Sinclair on 24-07-2008

Today, we have a lot of things that we think of as our enemies; terrorists, pollution, global warming, the shrinking middle class, and many other issues are in the forefront as things that can cause us troubles. However, these are things that in many cases, we only have limited control over. Even though sometimes it might feel like things are out of control, friends and family can help during these uncertain times. However, if self-destruction is an issue for you, you may need help to stop. Even though you may not know it, you can in fact be your own worst enemy.

How many thoughts do you think go through your head at any one time? Countless, right? Do any of them subversively send you negative messages, such as, “I’m so fat,” or, “Mom was right. I’ll never amount to anything”? Maybe you’ve even been able to tell someone else they can do something or that you believe in them, but you can’t say the same for yourself.

You probably know someone with a very negative attitude who is constantly in the middle of some drama so that he or she is continually complaining. Things always “happen” to them, right? Maybe they have continual (and for the most part overblown) health issues, or some other “tragedy.” This type of victim mentality can lead to depression and physical illness. You probably also know someone who is continually optimistic no matter the circumstances.

The fact is, both of these people have learned how to behave as they do. The person who behaves negatively no matter the circumstances has learned this. The person who behaves positively no matter the circumstances has learned this, too. And if you want to, you, too, can learn how to behave positively and to treat yourself better in the process as well.

To change your behavior or actions, you have to change your thoughts. It’s likely that you’ve heard of this before, but it’s time to take a look at it again. It’s not just hype; it’s something that has been physically measured as a phenomenon. You, too, can have this if you believe and have a strong desire to accomplish it.

So first, forgive yourself for everything you ever thought you did wrong. That means EVERYTHING. This might take a while, but it’s worth it. (Remember, if you can forgive other people for what they’ve done — and likely you have — then you deserve the same.) Of course, if it’ll help, you can repeat affirmations to yourself so that you become accustomed to thinking about this desire to change. However, you also have to believe them. If you don’t, then this is just going to enhance your negativity. You have to get out of your victim mentality and remember that sometimes, life simply happens.

Next, check in every so often to listen to your “self talk.” As you do, you’ll likely hear your old phrases, such as, “I’m so fat,” or “I’ll never do anything right” pop up quite frequently. When you catch yourself saying one of these things, change the phrasing. You don’t have to lie to yourself, but you can say something like, “Well, that was a pretty nice outfit,” or something similar. Don’t lie (because just like with affirmations, you have to believe what you’re saying), but rephrase things as positively as you can and still make them true. When you do so, you’re going to instantly elevate your mood and bask in feeling that way. Take a moment to feel good and acknowledge that you do.

Guess what? Your body can’t tell the difference between an emotion based upon a real event or one that you’ve gone through in your head. Any accomplishment you make can work as a mood elevator, then. Don’t focus on someone else saying that you’ve done something well, either. Take the moment you know you’ve done something well and focus on the fact that you did just that. It’s helpful to stop at certain predestined times of day and just check in to see what you’re thinking. Do this at work and at home, too, because thoughts may be different when you’re in different environments. These thoughts are likely responsible for your present actions and circumstances.

One good way to help you change your thinking is to state a positive belief out loud. It’s like an affirmation, but you have to believe in it. Write something down that’s good for your future and that you truly do have a realistic chance at accomplishing. You can even phrase something so that it truly is true in a positive sense. For example, you could say, “I’m getting better and better at making positive changes in my life, every day.” As you go on, you can get more and more specific. For example, you can name specific things that you’re making positive changes with as you go on and begin to see results.

If you focus on small changes daily, you’re going to begin to improve gradually and over time, but steadily as well. Pretty soon, you’re not going to be able to miss the results, and it’s going to get easier, too. Soon, this type of behavior will become second nature. In the end, you can become both your own coach and your own best friend.

No matter who you are, you’re going to face difficult times in life. Sometimes things will be easier, and sometimes they’ll be harder, but there will be difficulties on occasion. This is to be accepted and even embraced. It’s helpful if we know how to soothe and cheer ourselves up so that we get through these difficult times. That doesn’t mean that we should never grieve or be sad, but it does mean that we should not wallow in continual negativity or self-pity. Make an effort to your own best friend and give yourself a peptalk when you need it. Hard times will come and go, but so will positive ones! And whichever you are currently experiencing, it’s good if you as your own best friend can be right there by your side cheering you on.
