Video On The Internet - The Next Communication Revolution

Filed Under (Business Success, Info Publishing, Internet Marketing, Selling, Web Site Development) by Kevin Sinclair on 27-02-2007

Streaming Video is the future of the Internet. ‘Uses of Digital Media’, a report by Aberdeen/StreamingMedia.com, found that in the United States of America $2 billion was being spent on streaming media technologies, and is projected to grow to in excess of $12 billion per annum over the next few years.

Today the Internet is the fastest growing marketplace and offers global, opportunities to all, from international conglomerates to the individual person sat at the kitchen table. What though is the most effective form of communication on the information super highway? The Internet has become the place to communicate with one another and the means to search for and locate information. Video streaming brings a whole new dimension to this experience for everyone, be they business persons negotiating a deal, friends and family keeping in touch with their loved ones, or people sharing a common interest seeing one another for the first time.

For communication to be of use, it must be effective. People are expounding vast amounts of time, effort and money to communicate effectively on the Internet. Studies have shown that using video on the Internet gets people’s attention and increases the likelihood that the message will be remembered.
Humans remember:
10% of what they read,
30% of what they see,
50% of what they see and hear together,
and 80% of what they see, hear and do.
(source: Dr. Mehrabians, Study of Communication.)

This should have a significant impact on how one uses the Internet as a means of communication. Email changed the Internet, but video is changing the World. Email has become the fastest growing form of communication. Every day billions of emails are sent and received and the number continues to grow, (even allowing for the known problems of Spam, viruses etc.) some analysts are predicting that the number of messages will ultimately grow to as many as 100 billion a day!

This may sound great, but if one remembers that to be of use communication has to be effective, clearly definite strategies will have to be developed to achieve this aim of successful communication. The three major problems that have to be considered are:
- “How do you make your message ’stand out from the crowd’?”
- “How do you ensure uniformity of message (so everyone sees and hears the same message?” and
- “How do you try to ensure your message is not confused and misunderstood?”

Some people have started to include pictures and images to help convey the meaning and to add impact, but that still doesn’t solve the problem! This is because we are used to ‘face to face’ communication, where the message is interpreted not only from the spoken word but also the non verbal communication. 55% of a messages meaning is derived from facial expression and 38% is derived from gestures, body language etc.

So what is the solution? People online need fully integrated video streaming facilities for their online communication and this technology is available now, ranging from Video Email, Video Instant Messaging and even live Webcasting and Streaming Web TV. Streaming Video is the online future, and now is the time to place ones self at the fore front of this next communication revolution.

Online Business Selection Process

Filed Under (Business Success, Home Business, Small Business) by Kevin Sinclair on 25-02-2007

You’ve seen the claims about massive amounts of money being made on the Internet. Are they true? YES! How can you get your share of this Internet wealth? The odds are against you. Over 90% of people who venture into the Internet to make money fail.

Well, you need a plan or some sort of process that is proven and will work. If you work this plan and stay true to the process, your chances of success online will be much greater.

This process works, but there is no guarantee that what you do will work. Success is very elusive. If you are persistent and willing to learn as you go, you should do quite well.

The Process is broken down into 7 steps. They are listed below, in the particular order that will work.

1. Niche Selection
2. Site Selection
3. Prioritizing the List
4. Product Selection
5. Presenting and Proposal
6. Logistics
7. Review

The 7-step process is an iteractive process. After reviewing, you may find that you have to go back to step 1 and modify to come up with a winner. Let’s go through step 1 in more detail.

Step 1. Niche Selection

- You will want to find a niche that is tightly focused within a wider niche essentially, a niche within a niche. The more narrow your focus, the easier it will be to rise to the top of that niche. Once you have conquered the tightly focused niche, you can expand to the wider niche, and on up the chain. You can get ideas from online resources such as any of the big search engines, Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc. A narrow niche will usually have 2 to 4 keyword phrases associated with it. An example would be a wide niche of “car parts”. Narrower niches would include “used auto part”, “race car part”, “chevy car part”, etc. You can see that this would produce quite a list of 2 to 4 keyword phrases that would narrow the wider “car parts” niche.

- Another thing to keep in mind when selecting a narrow niche is the content that will be available for the product niche. Will you be able to find enough content related to the narrow product niche to create pages of information? The more content available or that can be produced, the better.

- What are the best ways to identify a niche? There are probably as many ways to identify a niche as there are people looking for a niche. Here are some tried and true methods to locate a niche that should allow you to identify some great niche ideas.

- Your own knowledge and/or personal interests. A hobby or passion for which you already have expertise. Remember, you are an expert if you say that you are and back it up with pertinent information.

- Desk Research. Articles, Browsing, and Newsgroups. You can find all kinds of ideas looking through publications from many sources. Keep an eye out for the advertisements. If you see certain ones over and over, they are making money and would be worth taking a further look.

- Paid-for Research. If you have more money than time, hire a consultant to find a niche that meets your specifications. You should be able to find excellent information with the right consultant. Be up front with them from the start as to your expectations, and they should come up with great ideas.

- Keyword/Niche Search Tools. The tried and true method is using keyword tools to find niches that should be profitable. Keep in mind that when you do a search on the search engines, such as Google, you are seeing the supply for that niche.

Tools such as Overture’s Keyword Selector Tool will provide you with the demand side. You want to find keyword phrases for your niche that have low supply and high demand. As an example, a search on Google for “auto part” shows about 1,350,000 sites that are listed for “auto part”. Overture’s Keyword Selector Tool shows that “auto part” was searched on about 1,001,985 times in the last month. This might be a good wide niche to start from because of the ratio of supply to demand. You want low supply and high demand.

You also want to see how hard it might be to duplicate the higher-ranking sites popularity. To assess this, check the sites PR rank, Alexa ranking and number of back links to the site.

In a later article, we will look at how to access these numbers to see if a niche can easily be dominated. We will also take a look at subsequent steps in our selection process.

Step 2. Site Selection

- Small-scale method
- Browse your terms
- Check top-ranking sites
- Capture contact information
- Check Alexa ranking

- Large-scale method
- Browse your terms
- Harvest top ranking sites keywords
- Set a manageable quantity of keywords
- Bulk-search on those terms
- Refine the resultant list into a mailing list

Step 3. Prioritizing the List

Step 4. Product Selections

Step 5. Presenting and Proposal

Step 6. Logistics

Step 7. Review

Success - Bottoms Up!

Filed Under (Personal Growth, Personal Success, Self Improvement) by Kevin Sinclair on 22-02-2007

By Daegan Smith

People define success as where they desire to go, what they need to achieve and what skills they can give. Success is relative. Success can mean wealth, it can mean enhancement of one’s talent. Success can be the be-all and end-all of someone’s existence. If that is case, that person is totally drunk on success.

The question ‘Are you drunk on success?’ can mean two things: it can be ‘are you too engrossed with success that you’re forgetting everything else’ and it can also mean ‘are you finally enjoying what you have?’ But the meaning leans toward more on the latter.

Too much success is a good thing, but being too preoccupied on this success isn’t.

How to know if one is drunk on success? Read on to find out:

1. You are just too busy planning how to be more successful.

You’re way above successful but for you there is no such thing as successful enough so you work yourself to death and just ignore everything else. It is a classic case of being drunk on success. You are just so impossibly workaholic that there is no stopping you!

2. You tend to become selfish.

For you, success gets depleted if you keep sharing so you just keep everything to yourself. Success has turned you to a tightwad and cheapskate. Oh no!

3. You turn to a materialistic person.

Let’s admit it, we all love gorging on material things but too much of them can just squeeze the values and goodness out of us. If being drunk on success means being drunk on everything that has a designer label, then it is best to assess things first.

Again, this article points out that being too successful is not a bad thing. Oh no, of course not! But what if you haven’t reached that success level yet, what can be done? To be drunk on success in a good way, remember the following:

1. Write down your goals.

Then cross out every goal accomplished. Knowing your goals and seeing them all neatly written down can inspire you and motivate you more. Then soon enough, success will just come in an instant!

2. Prioritize.

A lot of people have been taking priorities for granted. If you are aware of your priorities, then you know what things to accomplish first. Result? Success will come easily!

3. Don’t watch too much TV.

You heard it right? If you minimize the TV viewing then you can concentrate on other things. Breaking the couch potato habit can lead you to better things and before you know it, you’re already drunk on success.

4. Positive thinking can go along way.

Oh yes! If you envision positive results, expect yourself to gain positive results! People underestimate positive thinking and they shouldn’t. Remember, you are what you think. If you are normally a pessimistic person, start looking at the brighter side!

5. Be friends with successful people.

Not that you are going to use them or anything, but if you surround yourself with people you made it big, inspiration arrives early and easily.

6. Don’t forget your values.

This is such a basic thing. Never forget essential things in life like honesty, trust, kindness, courage and determination. If you are armed with all those values, success will not be elusive.

7. Have faith!

Don’t say to yourself that you cannot make it. Don’t be stuck in a mindset that I will never get drunk on success. Have faith, my friend! Faith moves mountains, that we all know.

8. Keep learning.

As soon as your mind becomes stagnant, nothing influential will ever happen to you. Keep learning! Read those books! Indulge yourself in intellectually stimulating conversations!

9. Never give up.

They say failure comes when people stop trying. Remember that adage? Try and try until you succeed!

Getting drunk and intoxicated on success is a good thing, only if one knows how to handle it properly. Don’t let success get into your head. Keep yourself humble and grounded. Cheers!
